• WHO WE ARE •

WE ARE CHRISTIAN

Together with Christians throughout the ages, we worship the Triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We joyfully affirm the historic Christian creeds – the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Chalcedonian Creed.

As a Christian church, we are committed to the content, proclamation, and demonstration of the good news of Jesus Christ: his life, death, resurrection, ascension, present reign, and future return in glory.

We believe that the Bible is God’s word and, as such, it is the infallible and ultimate authority. We humbly seek to understand, submit to, and apply Scripture as the Lord’s wisdom for every area of life.

WE ARE REFORMED

Our faith is expressed by the principles of the Protestant Reformation, known as the Five Solas: Jesus Christ redeems His people by grace alone through faith alone, as taught in Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone (sola fide, solus Christus, sola gratia, sola Scriptura, soli Deo gloria).

WE ARE PRESBYTERIAN

Our church is endorsed by the Mission to North America, a committee of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). “Being Presbyterian” means that our church is not independent but participates in the life of other churches across North Texas and well beyond. Like the church of the New Testament, we see ourselves as one particular church connected to a larger, integrated body that makes up “the Church” as a whole. Our church is also under the oversight of a plurality of elders.

WE ARE CONFESSIONAL

Every church has some kind of confession or statement of faith. Even the stance of “No Creed but the Bible!” is a kind of creed unto itself. While not inspired nor of final authority, we believe that a faithful summary and reliable guide of God’s word are the Westminster Confession of Faith and its catechisms. If you’re at all unfamiliar with the Westminster Standards, we are happy to introduce you and walk through its rich contents together.

Our church benefits from the Book of Church Order, but is governed by God's word.

WE ARE COVENANTAL

“Covenant” is likely a word you don’t use in everyday speech. It may seem like an archaic term at first glance but in Scripture, a covenant is a relationship that God establishes with his people and guarantees by his word. Our great God is a covenant-making and covenant-keeping God! Covenants are threaded throughout the Bible. Scripture unfolds the one covenant of grace that God made with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, and finally, and most importantly, fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

WE ARE A CHURCH PLANT

Cornerstone Presbyterian Church is a daughter Church plant out of the mother church that is Redeemer Presbyterian Church (PCA) in McKinney, Texas. As such, we are blessed to receive abundant support, prayer, and encouragement from our mother church as we hope to reach Allen/Fairview and beyond with the good news of Jesus Christ!
